Year 6 SATS
The Year 6, or Key Stage 2, SATS are an important benchmark in your child’s education. They will give an indication of the progress that they have made over the past few years at primary school and can be indicative of overall strengths and weaknesses as your child moves into secondary schooling.
Course Information
Children sit the SATS exams in May at school in both English and Maths. Children who enrol onto this programme are placed into a special SATS group which follows the UK National Curriculum and consolidates all the key concepts required with an emphasis on examination technique. Science is also available though this is no longer examined through formal SATS assessment.
Year 6 revision, and indeed KS2 revision is important, not only in respect of getting ready for the SATS but also prepares children for the more difficult work at KS3. Children will practice Year 6 Maths papers and Year 6 English papers as part of the practice for the SATS test towards the end of the course.
How
There is a mixture of formal teaching, work book based activities, interactive learning with an emphasis on continual and comprehensive past paper practice. Classes are small, ensuring that each child gets the necessary time and attention from the teacher.
When
Classes take place both during the week after school and on weekends during term time.
